The Hodge-Taylor house was built in 1852 in Jefferson Texas in the eastern part of the state. Barry and Lavenia Hodge had the house built after moving here from Kentucky. Hodge sold the property to D.W.H. Taylor in 1870. T.J.Taylor, Jr. restored the residence in the 1950's. His sister Lady Bird Johnson often stayed here.

Here are the results of my first weekend with the Swedish made paint removal system I ordered. I
am very happy with the amount of work I got done. This represents slightly over 2 full days of work even
though it officially was over the course of three days. I had other things I had to do that caused me to
stop and start several times. The red dotting you see in the photos are split or rotted boards I am going
to replace. There the system (with the Pro Arm) actually surpassed my high yet skeptical expectations.
It works exactly like they demonstrated on a DVD they sent to me last year. The great thing about it is
because it uses heat to soften the paint, any lead that potentially is present stays trapped in the
peeled material that falls on the drop clothes on the ground. The usual procedure is sanding and the dust
particles fly all over the place and even if the operator utilizes a mask, you can bet the operator is
going to inhale the stuff through nose and mouth! There is no airborne particles with this system. At any
rate, I am so glad to finally be moving forward with this job.
Here is the State Historical Marker for the site-
